2013 January – Singer at Detention Centre

INMATES at Villawood Immigration Detention Centre are receiving free sewing lessons in a bid to keep them calm, under control and out of the headlines. Last month Singer donated $3400 worth of equipment in addition to fabric and the services of a professional sewing teacher.

“I simply wanted to help out,” Mr Arulkumar, Blessington Managing Director, said. “Anything to help these people to be educated will keep them out of mischief.

“They will be doing this for recreational purposes but it will give them the skills that will hopefully make them good for the community when they are released.
