COMPETITION RULES

  1. Blessington Embroidery Challenge open to ALL Australian and New Zealand Embroiderers.
  2. A reference list crediting all digitizers, companies, or sources used in the creation of the piece must be compiled and submitted along with the entry as an appendix. This is specifically for the purpose of ensuring the appropriate entities receive credit for their contributions. This information will not form part of the judging criteria.
  3. Entries may not have been previously been awarded a monetary prize of $500 or more, or a position in any other competition for the same entry being entered in the BEC.
  4. Participants have the freedom to choose the exact dimensions of their embroidered piece. However, it should be manageable and transportable to be selected as a finalist for the challenge.
  5. Machine embroidery must be the predominant technique used, comprising no less than 60% of the overall embroidery piece.
  6. A label with the entrant’s name, address, telephone number and email must be securely sewn to the back of embroidery, in the bottom right hand corner.
  7. Entries to be submitted online via the Blessington website www.blessington.com.au/bec/ and received no later than November 30, 2024.
  8. Entrants may submit up to four high resolution (between 2MB and 4MB each) jpgs for each entry. One must show a full view of the embroidered piece and the others may be close-up views showing the details of the work. All images must be submitted electronically and be identified by surname and entry title. Images submitted will be used by the judges for selection and publicity and promotion and all other purposes as Blessington Pty Ltd see fit in their absolute discretion.
  9. A panel of judges will select the finalist’s entries to be exhibited at the Blessington Education Summit 2025 (February 2025). The judges’ decision is final. Blessington Pty Ltd reserves the right to refuse any work that doesn’t match the images submitted for selection. The finalist entries will be photographed for publicity and promotional purposes and on sending your entry you automatically agree to the entries being used for this purpose.
  10. Delivery/postage instructions will be provided with notification of acceptance. DO NOT SEND ENTRIES PRIOR TO NOTIFICATION THAT YOU HAVE BEEN A SELECTED AS A FINALIST.
  11. Blessington Pty Ltd employees, their family members and any ambassadors/associates (which includes dealer principals but not their staff) and companies connected with this competition are not eligible to enter.
